365: 18 Fall Leaves

Hello again,

I managed to get back on track with my picture taking and blog posting.  I tried to get my camera and take some pictures today but a of them were either out of focus or just not that nice of pictures, lol.  Monday’s are probably my second least liked day of the week behind Sunday's which I just get a bad feeling about.  Getting up this morning was pretty hard, even though I slept about the same amount as every day this weekend, I think its just the fact of getting woken up so abruptly that just makes me hate the day for the first 30 mins of it lol. This one is of the maple tree in our front yard.  I took it with the 70-200mm.  I desaturated it a bit, I couldn't really get anything else in post I was really happy with so I kind of settled on this.  It doesn’t really make sense but the original wasn’t that great either.

Been using windows live writer for the last few posts as I mentioned before, but I only noticed on yesterday’s novel of a post that it wasn’t taking a lot of the spacing into effect when it was posting.  Don’t know why it just disregards it when it comes to posting cause when I hit preview here it shows it coming up fine so I dunno if I will stick with it.  It is nice cause its got alot more options than the flickr way, which I could probably do everything with some code unbeknownst to me.

T’was an exciting day at school today, there was a gas leak in one of the townhouses across from our school.  I think I saw two fire trucks and some cop cars, and eventually enbridge showed up apparently.  Our school was in secure classroom lockdown for all of 10 minutes which was useful…not.  They brought us to the gym, which was just bringing us closer to the problem, and allowed us outside to the portapak right away for normal class which didn't really make sense as to why we were in lockdown, but who am I to judge.

Wow the last two days’ posts have been novels.  I am gonna wrap this one up here a) because I am out of stuff to say and b) its getting kind of late.

Ciao,

Dave

365: 17 Lone Ranger

Hello again,

Post number two on Sunday, this one being the post for the actual day. I woke up this morning to the waffle maker beeping and the fire alarm going off due to the waffle maker! This was not long after 9 and I was hoping for another hour of sleep but I just couldn't roll back to sleep after that. I had hockey at noon and having only 7hrs of sleep beforehand I knew on the drive there that it was not going to be fun. Couple that with summer rust and I was pooped. We did come out with a win but I did not get any points. After hockey I worked on the aforementioned physics project for a couple of hours. Haven't done much else since getting home besides eating dinner.

I took this shot at work on Saturday. There is a park behind the clubhouse so I snapped this one of the empty rocking horse. This is actually the first RAW that I have processed. Lightroom doesn't seem to like importing .cr2 files so that was a pain. Its pretty interesting what you can do after the fact, you can totally change the feel of the photo. Shooting RAW and JPG seriously diminishes how many photos my card can hold, it actually shows something other than 999! I also signed up for the Carleton University day next friday which I’m not really looking forward to spending 2-3 hrs of my day off there but I’m sure it wont be as bad as I make it out to be. I signed up for mechanical/aerospace engineering, commerce/international business, and physics. I may or may not go to the physics one cause I really don’t know if I want to do that.

On a musical note, checking my iTunes top 25 most played Substitution by Silversun Pickups was played 48 times Friday and Saturday alone, bumping it up to 4 on that playlist. I also bought The Dudes’ Blood, Guts, Bruises, Cuts today and really enjoy all of the songs :) Their facebook page kind of scared me (people afraid of the things mentioned in the album title should steer clear).

This has to be one of my longest posts if not the longest one. Just want to say thanks to the people reading and commenting on the blog, its much appreciated. Anyways I’ll be back tomorrow with hopefully some more interesting pictures.

Dave

365: 16 Abstract garbage

Hello again,

This is Saturday's photo, it was actually taken on Saturday I just didn't get around to posting the entry yesterday.  I only noticed today but people have been commenting on my blog! I think the first one was on Thursday or Friday last week.  About the shot, this is of the inside of one of the city garbage cans outside work.  The bag on the inside tore exposing the nice grimy side of the barrel.  Took this with the 50mm f/1.8.  Saturday I worked from 12:30-3:30, then came home and vegged for a few hours then had hockey practice at 7.  Came home and watched some hockey, but for the most part spent time online.  Stayed up to watch SNL and all I have to say is I am not a fan of Lady Gaga, musician and person.  Wow, it has taken me 32 mins approx. to type the previous two sentences.  I just run out of things to say and then surf the internet and forget I was doing this.  I’m gonna wrap this one up here. I have to go finish gluing a Physics project then come back and spend another 45mins to an hour typing sunday’s picture post lol.

365: 15 Keep an eye on it

Game description was in the previous post so I won’t repeat that.  This puck bounced out from behind the net and Perugini jumped on it in the next picture I have of this sequence (not on flickr).  I took a few more pictures at work today so I will be using those for Saturday's post.

I had hockey practice this evening and that just showed how out of shape I am after not having done much over the summer.  I have an exhibition game tomorrow as well so that should be fun. I am currently watching SNL and I had to come down to the computer cause I was falling asleep on the couch.  Both my NHL teams lost tonight unfortunately as well.  I am going to end this post here ‘cause like I just said, I’m pooped.

Dave

365: 14 Golden Opportunity

Hi everyone and anyone,

This post is technically counting for Thursday even though i took the picture on Friday.  I will probably post another shot from the game for Friday's shot.  This one is Henrique, who can’t get a handle on it as he catches Perugini out of position on a breakaway.  The 67’s came out with a victory last night 4-3 over the defending OHL Memorial Cup Champions.  The scoring opened up 32 seconds in with a 67’s goal.  Windsor proceeded to score three unanswered in the remainder of the 1st and 2nd periods (1 in the first, 2 in the second).  But the third period was Ottawa’s comeback time scoring three unanswered, two from the goal line or less.  15 year old Orleans native Cody Ceci got the game winner in the third with a blast from the point deflected off the Windsor defenseman in front of the net.  Other Ottawa goal scorers were Lindsay, Graovac, and Nesbitt.

Hockey season is in full swing now as the majority of the NHL is playing tonight (Saturday), my hockey season is getting started as well.  I’m making this post in Windows live writer which is new for me, normally I just post it from flickr’s built in blog tool so we’ll see how this works.

365: 13 Lucky Number 13

365: 13 Lucky Number 13, originally uploaded by Dave Hassar.

Behind...again! My plan for yesterday was to take some light trails on my way home from work yesterday but work got canceled due to rain and cold weather which isn't exactly tennis weather, so I ended up going to work on a physics research project.

I took this shot on the day I went downtown, this was at the lookout on the Rockliffe parkway. If there was a name on this boat, I didn't see it or else I would have used it as the post title. I am most likely going to the 67's game tomorrow evening so that should provide some new material to post instead of digging through my archives :P

I played tennis for school today and that was like hell but cold. When i got home it was 4°C out and there was rain while we were playing so my throwing hand wasn't really functioning correctly. Warmed up now by my god was it miserable today, and its not really looking better until next week we get back up to mid to high teens. Still no word from futureshop so hopefully I get a call tomorrow or else I have to start looking for another job :(

365: 12 Repeating Lines

365: 12 Repeating Lines, originally uploaded by Dave Hassar.

First new picture in a few days. For those who can't tell it is the aluminum siding of my neighbours house. Rained pretty much all day today so I got out during a little break today. I watched double NCIS tonight, and although NCIS:LA is way more technologically cooler than the original, the actors just don't seem up to par to me. Still no word from futureshop regarding my application but its only been one night. I am supposed to work tomorrow and it is gonna be single digits out there by the looks of it, and wet as well. Exciting! I am gonna try and get reading Oedipus the King for my Literature Studies class I have next semester but I don't know if ancient Greek literature and a tired brain are gonna mix too well.

Contemplating bringing my camera to a 67's game that I am possibly going to on Friday but I'd rather not have security on my ass so I sent an e-mail off their contact me website so we'll see if anything comes of that. If not I will take it and test my luck :P. I think that about wraps up my evening so,

Until tomorrow,

Ciao,

Dave
